First-Generation American Lives the American Dream by Selling Travel
As the daughter of immigrants from Colombia and Dominican Republic, the American Dream of entrepreneurship has been instilled in Aggie Batista since birth. Aggie’s parents inspired her to become the businesswoman she is today, instilling in her four key traits that she uses to operate her cruise franchise and live her life: Desire, Commitment, Perseverance, and the mantra “Treat Others How You Want To Be Treated.” Aggie’s love affair with travel began at a young age when she helped plan family vacations by speaking to travel agents on behalf of her parents who spoke limited English. She was mesmerized by the beauty of the destinations in the brochures.
In 2011, she lived her dream of owning her own travel agency business and opened a Dream Vacations franchise. Over the years she has learned that business grows from referrals because people want to work with those they trust and who make them feel empowered. She brings an infectious energy to her business which inspires clients to explore different ways of vacationing. Aggie is passionate about using her business to transform people’s lives through travel.
Aggie takes advantage of living in New York and Dream Vacations’ strong relationships with cruise lines by hosting intimate tours of cruise ships docked in New York for residents of her community. In the last two-and-a-half years, she has hosted more than 18 tours for nearly 300 people. Once they go on the tour and understand what a cruise entails, they are hooked and ready to book. These tours differentiate her from others in the community and make her stand out from the crowd.
