We sat down with Patti Wilmot & Joe Fitzgerald to ask them some questions about their experience as Dream Vacations Franchise owners. Patti & Joe previously worked with Cruises Inc, which set a starting point for their understanding of the business but they wanted the growth they knew only Dream Vacations could provide.
When did you become a CruiseOne/Dream Vacations franchise owner?
We became franchise owners in January 2018.
What did you do before opening your franchise?
Cruises Inc for 4 years.
Why did you decide to open a travel agency franchise?
We wanted to grow our business and bring on associates.
How have your skills carried over from your previous career?
Cruises Inc helped prepare me for Dream Vacations because I was already familiar with the industry.
What is one thing you wish somebody told you before you opened your travel agency?
I only wish someone talked me into doing this 4 years earlier!
How has your business grown over time? (Sales improvement, percentage improvement, focus on certain markets, products, niches or groups, client base growth, etc.)
It was a slow start but it has been progressing a little more each month.
What tool/resource/team at HQ has contributed most to your growth and why?
The best resource is our weekly promo update and all the webinars that are available to franchise owners.
What advice do you have for a franchise owner who is looking to grow their business?
Word of mouth is your biggest marketing tool. Never stop talking about what you love to do!
What advice do you have for somebody looking to own a travel franchise?
Take the chance! You won’t regret it. There are so many good things that come out of having your own franchise.
What is your Dream Vacation?
I would love to go on an all-Inclusive vacation in Bora Bora!
